Introductory Description: Work will be performed at the AEDC Hypervelocity Wind Tunnel No. 9 (Tunnel 9) located in Silver Spring, Maryland. Tunnel 9 provides a high speed Test & Evaluation capability for the Department of Defense.

Job Summary: Perform the role of an Electrician with the primary responsibilities of check out and preparation of plant and test facility equipment; install and maintain facility systems; perform maintenance and servicing work required to keep facility equipment operational; determine the general condition of electrical equipment, troubleshoot electrical malfunctions, and implement necessary repairs. The employee will work with voltages ranging from 120V to 13kV. A thorough knowledge of hand tools and advanced electrical test equipment is required to perform work. Must possess or be willing to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Job Duties:
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical equipment such as motors, motor control centers, generators, transformers, controllers, power circuit breakers, controls and control input/output devices including switches, solenoids, potentiometers, pushbutton stations, motor operated valves, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and other electrical systems in compliance with electrical codes, standards and regulations.
Determine general condition of all electrical equipment, troubleshoot electrical malfunctions and determine extent of necessary repairs.
Use of test equipment including high voltage proximity detectors, meters, loaded or unloaded and meggers, etc.
Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Use of hand tools, meters, and advance electrical test equipment required to perform work.
Ensure Safety as the priority utilizing the (LOTO) lock out tag system, the JSA, JSR, SDS documentation, proper electrical (PPE) personal protective equipment prior to the beginning and or during work.
Maintain a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority.
It is a condition of employment to wear company PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent.
7 years’ experience in industrial electrical maintenance. Equivalent experience in education, or other fields pertinent to the position may be substituted.
Current United States Citizenship is required.
