This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.
AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
Job Duties:
Provides functional oversight of the Arnold AFB design engineering personnel and project personnel in Tullahoma, TN (group size approximately 100), and to ensure that the engineering workforce, processes, AEDC Standards procedures and design guides are followed as appropriate.
Works with the NAS engineering functional manager and functional team to ensure that processes and activities are coordinated between the Engineering functional groups
Works with the line manager to ensure that the function is aware of issues and provides the support necessary
Ensures that the design group, as a service organization, is responsive to the many projects, internal and external customers’ needs. Internal customers include project managers, project engineers and branch managers.
Transform the design team into a customer focused, “can do” team that works to raise and determine ways to mitigate challenges and met customer expectations.
Works to ensure that the design team is capable of clearly documenting and communicating:
assumptions in estimates and schedules
project risks with consequences and recommended mitigations
Monitors the technical, quality and performance of the engineering teams (Drafters, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural and Architectural). Makes changes as necessary to the workforce and suggest changes to processes as appropriate.
Responsibilities:
Maintain alignment with contract modifications and regulatory requirements, proposing changes as necessary.
Support the planning, risk, cost and schedule performance of major projects and tasks
Support development of project requirements and work instructions as needed
Oversight of major work planning estimates associated with NAS engineering
Provide recommendations for personnel actions within the discipline function related to:
Ratings
Ranking
Project staffing
Engineering transfers in and out of NAS
Staff positions with qualified personnel. If qualified candidates are not available, implement a targeted training program (as necessary) to develop qualified personnel.

It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.

Basic Qualifications:
B.S. degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 15 years of related experience including leadership, supervision, preferably in project and design engineering, scientific or other relevant types of engineering to AEDC.

Professional Engineering License.
