An exciting career opportunity exists for an experienced Material Coordinator supporting a team of engineers and technicians who maintain and operate the largest wind tunnel in the world.
 
This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, LLC, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test Operations and Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), National Full-scale Aerodynamics Complex (NFAC) at Moffett Field, CA. The NFAC provides the United States with the capability of performing ground-based aerodynamic and acoustic experiments at speeds from static to nearly 350 mph on large-scale and full-scale aerospace vehicles and components.  This complex includes a 40- by 80-foot wind tunnel and an 80- by 120-foot wind tunnel.
 
AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground test and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

Job Duties:
 

  • Performs material planning and coordination activities at NFAC. 
  • Serves as the focal point and subject matter expert for acquisition of all material and outside services required to support the assigned project. 
  • Monitors material progress/status, expedites both internally and externally to meet material availability requirements. Report status to Branch customers.
  • Works with the task or project teams in the planning, selection, and expediting material required for the assigned project. Ensures the project team is informed of the status of procurement activities required for the project. 
  • Provides lead time information for items to be procured, interfaces with Acquisitions to ensure need items are delivered to support planned work activities. 
  • Responsible for the input maintenance, assessment and correction of Material Management data in the applicable data base. 
  • Continuously performs priority allocations to ensure material availability well in advance of installation requirements.
  • Assist Property Manager with tracking all NASA and Air Force (AF) assets throughout the NFAC facility, and performing annual 100% inventories of both NASA owned and AF owned property.
  • Ensures task completion addresses the proper disposition of excess/unused items and material.
  • Assist with overseeing building maintenance performed by outside contractors.
  • Review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met. Ensure work follows safety standards, conforms to specifications, and that work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines.
  • Support with monitoring the NASA Ames Facility Support Services (AFSS) contractor personnel while they perform preventative maintenance and trouble call functions in the facility. 
  • Performs all shipping/receiving duties for NFAC.
  • Reviews purchase order receiving documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading for accuracy and completeness.
  • Performs count and inspection of arriving material. Ensures receipt documentation is retained and recorded and receipt is completed in the NAS database.
  • Ensures that material is sorted in accordance with the branch storage plan and that the location of material in storage is properly reflected on the appropriate storage records (manually or automated).
  • Performs material management and warehouse functions associated with the receipt, storage, inventory, staging, shipping and issue of material as well as the maintenance of receiving, inventory and issue records within the inventory control system. This includes material handling, documentation and database management.
  • Performs Tool Crib management functions including issuing tools and equipment to workers and maintaining records of tools and equipment issued and returned.
  • Report to and receive operational direction from the NFAC Business Operations Manager.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Business Management or related discipline and a minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive material management and/or relevant work experience or any equivalent combination relevant education and progressive and relevant experience.
  • Current U. S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency and experience in the management of material in a government environment.
  • Understanding of and experience in warehouse operations, freight shipping/receiving/handling, material handling methods & equipment, and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, systems and operations related to the acquisition of materials, services and equipment, and of the Engineering discipline within the area of responsibility, the work process, and the deliverables produced
  • Good oral and written communication skills regarding technical and production matters with both AEDC and supplier personnel
  • Skilled in working with, and communicating effectively both orally and in writing with other project functional groups, primarily Engineering, Operations, Project Management and other services.
  • Knowledge in the use of type of standard databases, including reading/interpreting drawings, work planning, and specification/statement of work development for goods and services
