This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.

AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Design Engineering Group Manager and Supervision, provide the following engineering services: coordinate, assign, and provide metrics reporting for the Design Engineering team to ensure that the work is executed in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Serve as central point of coordination for outside organizations that request work tasks from the Design Group (e.g., drawings, sketches, specifications, Statements of Work, calculations)
  • Process all Design Work Requests into Work Order Tasks against the appropriate projects and activities.
  • Assign Work Order Tasks to Engineers, Designers, and Drafters with input from Design Engineering Supervision
  • Collect status for all Design Work Requests and Work Order Tasks
  • Identify priority conflicts to Design Engineering Group Manager and Supervision, coordinate and obtain input from external groups to help with deconfliction as needed.
  • Develop and maintain tools to support performance (cost and schedule) metric reporting.
  • Develop and maintain tools to support resource planning.
  • Track and communicate negative performance trends to Design Engineering Group Manager and Supervision
  • Participate in Improvement projects related to planning, scheduling and the overall work management process.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Applicable technical degree/diploma/certificate, or Associates degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of three years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of applicable education and progressive and relevant experience totaling five years.
  • Current US citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Technical knowledge of design engineering processes and application of computer aided engineering (CAE)/computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems.
  • Knowledge of AEDC design and engineering work processes, facilities and equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in work planning, scheduling and coordination
  • Demonstrated proficiency with standard PC systems and Microsoft office software applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
  • Experience with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera)
