National Aerospace Solutions, LLC is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.  AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.

AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

NAS currently has an exciting career opportunity available for experienced IS&T System Administrators to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.

Job Duties:
  • Primary role as the System Administrator and/or Information Systems Security Office (ISSO) for Government IT system networks
  • Provide direct reporting to TOS IS&T Systems Infrastructure Supervisor.
  • Provide support and daily interaction with NAS ISSM and TOS Systems Infrastructure group.
  • Research and evaluation to ensure NIST RMF, JSIG and other security related guidelines requirements are being met on Information Systems
  • Conduct RMF Certification Testing and setup for Information Systems to ensure functional/support for appropriate accreditation level.
  • Develop and maintain all information system certification/accreditation documentation in accordance with mandated policies.
  • Coordination with other System Administrators to ensure the SCTM requirements are being met.
  • Research Information Systems technologies and capabilities
  • Conduct/oversee weekly audits/reviews of Computer Information Systems to ensure compliance.
  • Provide coordination and system administration, as necessary, for all Linux/Windows based servers and workstations:
  • Server, workstation and storage system operations, upgrades and enhancements to meet current and future end-user and facility requirements.
  • System backup hardware, applications and processes.
  • System security configuration and monitoring.
  • Support, maintenance, repair, and installation of workstations and servers, peripheral equipment, and software applications.
  • Review Information Systems to identify potential security weaknesses, recommend improvements to amend vulnerabilities and implement changes and document upgrades.
  • Upgrade of Information Systems and security checklist guidelines
  • Enforce security policies and safeguards on all personnel who have access to systems and/or networks.
  • Ensure users have required clearances, authorizations, and/or individual user accounts are properly established.
  • Works with the Information Assurance Manager to ensure compliance with information assurance regulations and best practices.
  • Ensure Cybersecurity requirements are consistently documented, maintained, evaluated and compliant for Government IT system networks including components of systems.
  • Support and remediate any issues with Government IT system networks outside of normal assigned shift.
  • Provide end user troubleshooting support for Government IT system networks that include computer hardware and software peripherals.  
  • Support the use of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract.
  • Provide support to AEDC Customer and other contractors.
  • Periodically evaluates process and program effectiveness and takes action to maintain continuous improvement.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (personal protective equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or Information Assurance/Security or other IT related field plus 1 to 5 years of progressive and relevant experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and progressive and relevant experience.
  • Current US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DoD security clearance at TS or TS-SCI
  • DoD8570 compliant, IAT Level II certification to include CompTIA Security+ certification and computing environment certificate such as Windows Server Fundamentals.
  • Experience with JSIG, RMF, ICD 503, JAFAN 6/3, NIST 800, and NISPOM
  • Experience providing COMSEC support and working with Controlled Cryptographic Items (e.g., key loading devices and encryptors).
  • Knowledge of IS&T related networking, hardware, and software.
  • Experience with installation, configuration and troubleshooting the following: Unix\Linux\Windows workstation and server OS environments, hardware, software, mass storage, networking, boundaries firewall, routing, patching, ACAS, VLAN’s, Redhat, active directory.
  • Specific experience working as a Linux System Administrator including.
    • Installation, Configuration, and Troubleshooting of Linux-based operating systems.
    • Configuration and Application of security policies and templates for system hardening.
    • Configuration, Monitoring, and Tuning of server applications and performance.
    • Storage Management and Services, including RAID, LVM, NFS
    • Scripting environments and shell scripts
  • Experience with troubleshooting, repairing, specifying, and upgrading networking and computer hardware.
  • Experience in scripting languages (e.g., perl, php, javascript, bash, etc.)
  • Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of networking hardware.
  • Experience with firewall hardware and software, including,
    • Generating and implementing rules for network security
    • Hardware requirements definition and configuration
  • Understanding of network switches, router hardware, and router software
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Skilled at building and maintaining personnel and customer relationships.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
