This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.

AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

Job Duties:

The Inventory Lead has responsibility for oversight of the acquisition, storage, utilization, and disposition of inventory at all NAS Locations including Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tennessee, Tunnel Nine in White Oak, Maryland, and the National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex (NFAC) in Mountain View, California. 
 
  • This includes items being received in a timely manner, properly stored, inventory accuracy, maintenance of store items, and retrievably.   Duties will include supporting storage planning, storage strategies, supporting ongoing acquisition activities, tracking of coordination and expediting items in receipt and storage to meet the needs of AEDC. 
  • Responsible for stock code development and maintenance, development and issue of reports relating to the inventory and other duties as assigned. 
  • Perform inventory analysis on a regular basis and lead regularly scheduled inventory review meetings to ensure the items in inventory will meet the needs of AEDC.  This includes ensuring obsolete items are to be removed from inventory and new items added to keep the inventory efficient. 
  • Develop, update and maintain inventory reports and queries as required by management
  • Review items in storage on a regular basis to ensure they are not degrading while in storage and they are properly stored and maintained. 
  • Coordinate and interface with the NAS Property Department to ensure compliance with the requirements for the NAS Government Property Program.  
  • Interface with end users, Air Force and Department of Defense (DOD) staff routinely and will ensure the Material Management programs comply with all applicable requirements (FAR, DFAR and Air Force) and industry standards as well as applicable NAS policies and procedures. This includes supporting the management of the Air Force Inventory and NAS inventory, development, issue and maintenance of all Policies, Procedures and Instructions required to implement the AEDC Inventory program and management of the information in the applicable data bases both Government and NAS.
  • Oversees assigned personnel in the Inventory team to ensure team activities are completed and the AEDC Mission is fully supported. 
  • Supports personnel annual reviews and makes recommendations to the Material Manager on salary actions, classification changes, terminations, and transfers. Indoctrinates newly assigned Inventory team personnel to the requirements and procedures of NAS, AEDC and the Air Force.  
  • Monitors personnel to ensure they receive appropriate training and development to satisfy job performance criteria and company personnel development objectives.  Supports development of project workhour estimates for the Inventory function. 
  • Monitors project work and the expenditure of work hours within approved budgets. 
  • Develops and coordinates with the Material Manager the Inventory team personnel staffing plan so that staff assignments are conducted in an orderly manner.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Business Management or related discipline and a minimum of 5 to 7 years of inventory management and other progressive and relevant experience and/or related experience or any combination of relevant education and progressive and relevant work experience.  
  • Current US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency and experience in the management of inventory in a government environment.
  • Proficiency in all phases of Inventory management including knowledge of and skill in communicating effectively with co-workers, management, end users and Air Force staff.
  • Proficiency in monitoring trends in inventory usage, deterioration/obsolescence, shelf life and space utilization.
  • Skilled in working with and communicating effectively both orally and in writing with other project functional groups, primarily Engineering, Operations, Work Control (planning/scheduling), Project Management and other services.
  • Solid understanding of Government Material Management requirements, and best business practices.
  • Supervisory experience in an industrial/government facility.
  • Ability to plan, organize, lead and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to their successful conclusion.
  • Proficient in OWAM or other CMMS software.
