Summary/General Description Of Job:

The incumbent is responsible for the repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of commercial, industrial, and residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and refrigeration units.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape using cutting and bending equipment and tools; cuts and threads pipe using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment.
  • Bends and forms sheet metal for ductwork, grease pans, etc.
  • Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services industrial and residential heating, ventilating, hydronic, and air conditioning systems, and refrigeration units.Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems, and determines appropriate repairs.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and electrical wiring.
  • Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers.Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters and cleans coils as needed.
  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
  • Repairs components within a system to include transformers, motors, electrodes, solenoids, rheostats, and aqua stats.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping of jobsite, mechanical rooms, and shops.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
  • Timely and cost effective performance of duties.
  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.
  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.
  • Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
  • Having the ability to work well under pressure.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years’ experience as a HVAC technician.
  • Current Universal EPA Certification and CFC Handling.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
