Summary/General Description of Job:
The Pipe Shop Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) within assigned area. Directly supervises pipefitters in the performance of water, steam, sewer and air systems repair and maintenance. Supervises, coordinates and directs multi- craft activities to ensure the work is completed in a professional and timely manner as assigned.  Ensures assigned O&M craft performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.  Interacts professionally with contractors, vendors and corporate staff members, maintaining effective working relationships.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Primary full-time duty is to supervise and direct craft personnel in the Base Operation Pipe Shop crew.
  • Using professional skills and knowledge and discretion to assign work tasks and prioritize work for accomplishment.  
  • Ability to plan, organize, lead and monitor a wide variety of team efforts to their successful conclusion.
  • Ability to anticipate change and to adjust promptly and effectively.
  • Coordinate material, equipment, people resources and administrative processes.
  • Meet with project managers to plan and prioritize work according to established production targets.
  • Supports, follows, and enforces the Company’s Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety.  Follows all Federal, State and Local safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensures the subordinate employees’ time records reflect an accurate record of hours worked and job order numbers to which time is charged.
  • Plans and organizes work to meet all deadlines.
  • If required, ensure all permits are obtained and paperwork submitted prior to the commencement of a job task.
  • Enforces correct methods and procedures and all safety and health rules and regulations relative to construction, maintenance and repair activities.
  • Utilizes computer work systems and analyzes information concerning work tasks, schedules, projects, materials or services.
  • Ensures timely submission of required reports to management.
  • Inspects and diagnoses problems to determine corrective action.
  • Ensures proper housekeeping practices, to include tool control, material, equipment and vehicles.
  • Performs duties in a timely, cost effective and accurate manner.
  • Performs other related work as assigned

  • Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial safety practices.
  • Compliance with company Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.
  • Effectively coordinating a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Having the ability to work well under pressure.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):


  • Ten (10) years of progressive responsibility in pipefitting with water sewer and steam systems fields within industrial construction, maintenance and the building trades, experience may be substituted with formal education.
  • Five (5) years’ supervisory/leadership experience leading a crew performing work of comparable scope and complexity.
  • Knowledge of pipefitting, potable and raw water systems, steam and sewer systems distribution and facility systems.
  • Skilled in understanding specifications, drawings and industrial fabrication.
  • Intermediate skill in the use of Microsoft Office, and database programs.
  • Secret Security Clearance, an interim clearance is acceptable during the Mobilization/Phase-in period.
  • Valid state Driver’s License with acceptable driving record pertinent to the position.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship


  • Current Secret Security Clearance.
  • Experience working on a government contract.
