NAS currently has an exciting opportunity available for an ID&C Network Specialist II to join our management team in Tullahoma, TN.

Job Duties:
  • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard and more complex engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Perform assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a moderate number of variables for ID&C IT Hardware/Network engineering.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and execution of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract.
  • Perform work, within one or more disciplines, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment involving more moderate to complex features; supports ID&C IT Hardware/Network engineering with deploying and adhering to common engineering work processes throughout the TOS contract.
  • Participate in one or more of the following:
    • Equipment design and development
    • System design, including concept sketches and layouts
    • Testing of materials
    • Preparation of specifications and design calculations
    • Reviewing and checking designs, drawings and data by other engineers or by suppliers
    • Preparation or review of engineering studies and reports
    • Preparation or review of material quantity estimates
    • Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools
    • Participate in incident investigations
    • Fitness for service evaluations
    • Committees formed for specific tasks
  • Prepare letters for replies to vendor correspondence.
  • Monitor schedule within discipline. Assist in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.
  • Review design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate to advanced degree of complexity, and prepares comments and recommendations.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. or B.A. in applicable discipline from an accredited university plus 5 years related experience or a total of 12 years combined relevant education and progressive experience.
  • Current CompTIA Security Plus certification is required and must be obtained within six months of employment.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PC systems hardware, mass storage, graphics, networking, operating systems, and applications.
  • Proficiency in network architecture, network security, and the various fiber-optic and copper cabling systems that comprise the network infrastructure along with a familiarity with TCP/IP and network development practices.
  • CCNA or related certifications a plus.

  • Basic skill in oral and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and practical experience with LANs, WANs, WLANs and IPv6.
  • Current CompTIA Security Plus certification
  • Active DoD security clearance
