NAS currently has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced ET Test Controller to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.

JOB TITLE: ET TEST CONTROLLER I - 4 Positions

Location:
Mission Execution/Flight (PWT Plant)

Grade Level: A24

Hourly Rate Scale: $26.64 - $33.30

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under general supervision, performs Safe, Reliable, and Effective Operations (SREO), installation and maintenance of test/plant equipment/systems.  Directs and performs a wide variety of technical, mechanical, electrical, and manual work in the control room, testing, operating, and/or assembly and shop areas of an engineering test facility; checks out and prepares plant and test facility equipment for operations; prepares and installs  test articles, removes test articles after tests, installs and maintains facility systems, operates test facility, plant equipment, and test article equipment during the tests, and accomplishes maintenance and servicing work as required to place and keep such equipment in operation; checks test articles and installations prior to tests, assists in tests,  operates complex testing equipment, and troubleshoots operating equipment or test articles, and installations in case of malfunction; with a high degree of skill, uses a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, complex measuring and testing equipment and other equipment as required to accomplish the operations; train, instruct and direct other craftsmen(s); it is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.  Performs other related work as assigned.
 
SUPPLEMENTARY FUNCTIONS:  Participation in functional specific safety training.
 
JOB PREREQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Educational Equivalent:  Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent.
Specific Knowledge or Experience:  Four (4) years of experience, as an electrician.  Preference will be given to those holding one or more of the following qualifications, QUAL3003 16T Tunnel Operator, QUAL3004 PWT Main Drive Operator and QUAL3009 4T Tunnel Operator. Progressive experience in the electrician trade may be substituted for the required experience. Ability to skillfully operate and work with a wide variety of hand and machine tools.  Ability to read and work from blueprints, diagrams, and sketches.   Must be able to direct the work of other craftsmen(s). Must be able to direct the work of other craftsmen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and maintain access to the AEDC local area computer network.
Licenses/Certifications:  Valid Driver’s License.
Communication Skills:  Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must have good computer skills and working knowledge of computer software (Windows, Word, Excel, Etc.)
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
Pursue and obtain all qualifications as assigned and demonstrate satisfactory progress as measured by two (2) quarterly progress assessments based on syllabus completion, body of knowledge testing and tunnel conditions OJT as a PWT Main Drive Operator, 4T Tunnel Operator and 16T Tunnel Operator.
  • Start/stop and configure systems (motor/compressor, valves, refrigeration, heaters, driers, coolers) as required.
  • Monitor systems health and initiate appropriate response to alarms/trips.
  • Coordinate and communicate operations with others as necessary.
  • Coordinate with Test/Plant Control Room Operation Engineers, Supervision, Engineering Support and Base Utilities.
Performs technical, mechanical, electrical and manual work in the control room, operating, and/or assembly in all areas of a test facility as assigned.
  • Checks out and prepares plant equipment and test facility equipment for operations through the completion of Pre-Operational procedures.
  • Prepares test articles for testing, installs test articles, and checks installations.
  • Troubleshoots equipment, test articles, and installations in case of malfunctions.
  • Operates plant and test equipment during tests.
  • Assists in installation, testing and removal of test articles.
  • Installs, troubleshoots and maintains electrical systems with the undertaking of maintenance and servicing work required to place and keep the facility equipment operational.
  • Perform any and all Electrical duties as assigned.
  • Uses a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, measuring and testing equipment
  • Train other Craftsmen(s) in both Operation and Maintenance activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Critical Nature of Attendance and Safe Work Practices
Regular attendance is essential to the efficient operation of NAS and is a necessary condition of employment.  Each employee will be expected to adhere to the work schedule established by his/her supervisor and comply with the company’s attendance policy.  Overtime is required to meet work schedules at an approximate rate up to 15%. Employees are expected to report to work at the scheduled time, return from breaks promptly, and depart work not earlier than the end of the scheduled day.
