NAS currently has an exciting opportunity available for an ID&C Network Specialist III to join our team in Tullahoma, TN.

The Opportunity:
An exciting career opportunity exists for an ID&C Network Specialist III with responsibility for making adaptations and modifications to the design and implementation of operating voice, video and data communication systems.  The selected candidate will select, configure, and customize existing telecommunications hardware and software designs to meet the needs of a large multi-functional industrial complex with a wide variety of technical applications.
This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, LLC the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.
AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
Job Duties:
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications to the design and implementation of operational voice, video and data communication systems.
  • Perform assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for ID&C IT Hardware/Network engineering.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and execution of common work processes and procedures within the data network engineering function across the TOS contract.
  • Perform work, generally within network engineering discipline, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment with relatively few complex features.
  • Support ID&C IT Hardware/Network engineering with deploying and adhering to common engineering work processes throughout the TOS contract.
  • Participate in one or more of the following under the supervision of network engineering staff:
    • Provide network security, and operations and maintenance for AEDC test and industrial standalone networks
    • Generate and maintain required network drawings and documentation
    • Coordinate with customers, peers, operations staff, and appropriate craft personnel
    • Prepare and/or modify designs, drawings and data
    • Prepare engineering studies and reports
    • Develop labor and material estimates for assigned tasks
    • Use computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools
    • Perform System troubleshooting and return-to-service activities
    • Develop/Execute System Verification and Validation Test Plans
  • Prepare letters for replies to vendor correspondence.
  • Monitor schedule within discipline. Assist in preparation of forecasts, quantity take-offs and change orders.
  • Review design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a moderate to advanced degree of complexity, and prepares comments and recommendations.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. or B.A. in applicable discipline from an accredited university plus 4 years related experience or a total of 12 years combined relevant education and progressive experience.
  • Current CompTIA Security Plus certification is required and must be obtained within six months of employment.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PC systems hardware, mass storage, graphics, networking, operating systems, and applications.
  • Proficiency in network architecture, network security, and the various fiber-optic and copper cabling systems that comprise the network infrastructure along with a familiarity with TCP/IP and network development practices.

  • Basic skill in oral and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and practical experience with LANs, WANs, WLANs and IPv6.
  • CCNA or related certifications a plus.
