NAS currently has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced ID&C Software Engineer II / III to join our team at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee.
The primary responsibility of the ID&C Software Engineer III involves the role of Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) of the newly formed AEDC Analysis & Technology development network. In addition to the ISSM role, it is expected that the candidate will also support activities involving network engineering and software development tasks related to the data acquisition systems used in conjunction with specially designed hardware supporting the AEDC test mission.
Job Duties:
  • Perform the role of IT lead assigned to a multi-disciplined engineering team involved in the research and development of advanced diagnostic test techniques.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Perform work, generally within ID&C Software Engineering discipline, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of software programs, investigations, systems or equipment with moderate complexity.
  • Coordinate with engineering staff to define instrumentation integration techniques, data processing requirements, develop and test data processing code, and support a real-time distributed network environment.
  • Lead and support the engineering staff in Information Assurance directives
  • Responsible for submitting equipment requirements in a timely fashion to ensure continuity of operation of the network.
  • Participate in and foster a work environment based on openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Function as a lead/mentor for less experienced personnel.
  • This position requires approximately 1/3rd of the time be devoted to System Administration requiring a CompTIA Security+ Certification.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related technical degree with 7 - 12 years of progressive and relevant work experience.  Advanced degrees will be considered as additional years of experience. 
  • Candidate must possess a CompTIA Security+ Certification within 6 months of on-boarding. 
  • Experience implementing network mass storage schemes is required
  • Basic skills in oral and written communication are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with the following: Unix, Linux, Windows Server 2012, Microsoft Exchange Servers, SharePoint administration, networking, routing, switching, DHCP, TCP/IP addressing VLAN's are highly desired.
  • Experience with software such as Python, C/C++, Perl, Matlab, GIT, and Microsoft office suite is desirable.
  • A background with interfacing computers to laboratory grade hardware is also a plus.
  • Useful skills include systems engineering, software design principles and data reduction/data analysis.
