Job Duties:
  • Perform work as part of a small team who operate and maintain the networks and computer systems supporting the AEDC White Oak wind tunnel facility in Silver Spring, Maryland
  • Serve as system administrator for all Linux-based servers and workstations with direct responsibility for:
    • Server, workstation and storage system operations, upgrades and enhancements to meet current and future end-user and facility requirements
    • System backup hardware, applications and processes
    • System security configuration and monitoring
    • Support, maintenance, repair, and installation of workstations and servers, peripheral equipment, and software applications related to the operation of the wind tunnel.
  • Adhere to all safety, security and other company and Air Force policies and procedures.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (personal protective equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
Basic Qualifications:
  • IT-related Associates degree or equivalent. 2-4 years relevant experience in IT field, 3-5 years experience without a degree. Experience will be evaluated as a substitute for education.
  • Specific experience working as a Linux System Administrator, including
    • Installation, Configuration, and Troubleshooting of Linux-based operating systems
    • Configuration and Application of security policies and templates for system hardening
    • Configuration, Monitoring, and Tuning of server applications and performance
    • Storage Management and Services, including RAID, LVM, NFS
    • Scripting environments and shell scripts
  • Specific experience with computer hardware, including:
    • Troubleshooting and replacing or repairing internal components
    • Upgrading internal or external components to meet user or system requirements
  • Specific experience with networking topologies, hardware, and cabling.
  • Currently hold or ability to obtain Security+ or equivalent certification.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a DOD Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to read and write proficiently in English.
  • Ability to work with others and perform on multi-disciplined teams.
