NAS currently has an exciting opportunity available for an ID&C Network Specialist I to join our management team in Tullahoma, TN.

Job Duties:
  • Under the guidance and direction of an experienced engineer, support the Technology Innovations team in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Perform limited portions of routine assignments, which have clear and specific objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables for ID&C IT Hardware/Network engineering;
  • Supports and follows common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract.
  • Perform work, generally within one discipline, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment with relatively few complex features; supports ID&C IT Hardware/Network engineering with deploying and adhering to common engineering work processes throughout the TOS contract.
  • Participate and assists a more experienced engineer in one or more of the following:
    • Interface with internal and/or external customers to ensure understanding of system and/or test requirements
    • Development of system and subsystem requirements
    • IT Hardware/Network design, development, maintenance, and/or test operations support
    • System and/or test configuration design, including conceptual and detailed sketches and layouts
    • Preparation of specifications and design calculations
    • Preparing designs, drawings and data under the supervision of a more experienced engineer
    • Preparation of engineering studies and reports
    • Preparation of material quantity estimates for test and/or design projects
    • Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools
    • System troubleshooting and return-to-service
    • System Verification and Validation Test Development/Execution
  • Draft letters for replies to vendor correspondence.
  • Monitor schedule for own work.
  • Assists in review of design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a low to moderate degree of complexity, and prepare comments and recommendations.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. or B.A. in applicable discipline from an accredited university plus 2 years related experience or a total of 6 years combined relevant education and experience.
  • Current CompTIA Security Plus certification is required and must be obtained within six months of employment.
  • Working knowledge and experience with PC systems hardware, mass storage, graphics, networking, operating systems, and applications.
  • Proficiency in network architecture, network security, and the various fiber-optic and copper cabling systems that comprise the network infrastructure along with a familiarity with TCP/IP and network development practices.
  • CCNA or related certifications a plus.

  • Basic skill in oral and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and practical experience with LANs, WANs, WLANs and IPv6.
  • Current CompTIA Security Plus certification
  • Active DoD security clearance
