National Aerospace Solutions (NAS), LLC is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment activities at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex, Arnold Air Force Base, in Tullahoma, Tennessee. NAS currently has an exciting opportunity available for an Engineering Designer I to join our team in Tullahoma, TN.

Job Duties:
Support the mission of the Technology Innovations Design Engineering Section (N40) and report to the section manager
  • Under supervision following general instructions and with limited discretion:
    • Prepare of2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) plant layouts and study drawings from which detailed design 3-D CAD models and/or construction drawings are completed.
    • Prepare portions of 3-D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers.
    • Prepare bulk material quantity takeoffs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline.
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with applicable design/drafting codes and standards.
  • Interface with the electronic drawing management system to archive and control drawing files.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Two years of related college or technical school with courses in engineering or associated disciplines and 5 years of progressive and relevant experience in drafting and basic experience in design or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
  • Familiarity with relevant AEDC Procedures, design standards and guides, and Standard Application Programs.
  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities.
  • Basic knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline.
  • Knowledge of mathematical formulae and design calculations used in the discipline.
  • General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort.
  • Skill in reading, interpreting and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
  • Skill in leading the technical work of less experienced designers and/or drafters who share in the design effort.
