Job Title:  Entry-Level ID&C Software Engineers

Job Duties:
  • Responsible for software engineering of Instrumentation, Data and Controls (ID&C) for Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) operations evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria. Supports the use of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract.
  • Perform work, generally within ID&C Software Engineering, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of software programs, investigations, systems or equipment with complex features.
  • Participate in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Participate in one or more of the following:
    • Software design and development
    • Information Assurance software patches
    • Computer Network and desktop support of ID&C software and configurations
    • Accounts management for ID&C software, programs supporting testing and test assets
    • Preparing designsand data under the supervision of a more experienced engineer
    • Preparation of engineering studies and reports
  • Use engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, or a related scientific discipline from an accredited college or university plus zero (0) to five (5) years of experience. M.S. degree or post-graduate coursework in a relevant field is preferred.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification is required. 
  • Brocade BCNE or Cisco CCNA Certification is preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and construction methods and materials, and application of computer aided engineering (CAE)/computer aided design (CAD) tools to engineering problems. 
  • Familiarity with turbine and rocket test cells, wind tunnels, space chambers, and/or arc heater facilities is desirable.  The systems and environment at AEDC are varied from high velocity pressurized wind tunnels to vacuum chambers.  Process systems include 4,000 psig air, steam, cryogenic helium, liquid nitrogen, flammable gases and liquids, high temperature service over 1,300 F, and utilities.   Good knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and design criteria pertinent to ID&C IT Software engineering discipline. 
  • Basic skill in oral and written communication.
