Job Title:  Design Engineering Functional Manager

Job Duties:
  • Provides oversight of the engineering personnel and to develop and maintain the engineering workforce, processes, procedures, and review work instructions.
  • Monitors the technical, quality and performance of the engineering teams and makes changes as necessary to the workforce and processes as appropriate.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Maintain alignment with contract modifications and regulatory requirements, proposing changes as necessary.
    • Support the planning, risk, cost and schedule performance of major projects
    • Support development design requirements as needed.
    • Manage the software licenses for design engineering.
    • Oversight of major work planning estimates associated with NAS engineering.
    • Provide recommendations for personnel actions within the discipline function related to:
      • Ratings
      • Ranking
      • Project staffing
      • Engineering transfers in and out of NAS
      • Staff positions with qualified personnel.If qualified candidates are not available, implement a targeted training program (as necessary) to develop qualified personnel.
      • Screen applicants to determine if they have the requisite qualifications for the positions.Screening process should consist of the following activities, as appropriate:
        • Resume review
        • Check documentation of academic qualifications, professional engineer registration, experience, etc.
        • Interview
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in architecture or an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 13 years of related experience including supervision, preferably in project and staff design engineering, scientific or other relevant types of engineering to AEDC such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
  • Advanced knowledge of and successfully demonstrated experience related to:
    • Systems, calculations, applications of methods, materials and the use of computers and 2-D and 3-D computer aided design (CAD) automation within Design Engineering.
    • Industry and regulatory codes and standards and design criteria used in Design Engineering.
    • Design Engineering work processes and performance metrics
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or post graduate coursework preferred.
