This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.
AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

This position will serve as the primary point-of-contact with the associated TOS Contractor and DoD Client organizations responsible for test operations in the assigned facilities and will require extensive coordination with the corresponding DoD oversight organizations and contractor organizations supporting the assigned test areas.  Extensive and effective coordination will also be required with other supporting contract and government organizations from time to time.  Planning and reporting withing the corresponding AEDC CTF and TOS contract is required. The successful candidate will frequently interface directly with assigned government managers in accordance with project requirements and organizational leadership direction.

This posting will be used to current supervisory openings in two sections: 1) Aeropropulsion AP J&T Operations and 2) Flight VKF Operations.  The company may move managers as needed to meet mission demands. The specific organizational assignment will be made once the successful candidates are selected.

Job Duties:
  • Responsible for ID&C systems and assigned ID&C engineering personnel responsible for meeting mission requirements assigned to the TOS contract within the assigned Combined Test Force (CTF). 
  • Line management of a team consisting of approximately 10-20 instrumentation, data system, control system, and/or software engineers along with computer system administrators and other technical specialists.
  • Management oversight of assigned facility and test ID&C systems included in the assigned test operations area(s).
  • Supervision and technical leadership of ID&C engineering tasks assigned to the section; assist and monitor related work assignments.
  • Lead and support weekly and monthly operations planning/work coordination meetings.
  • Develop and coordinate schedules with various test teams. Manage and implement long-term planning goals for Test Facilities ID&C related sustainment and improvement initiatives within the assigned test area(s).
  • Manage capital improvement and maintenance budgets for the assigned test area(s).
  • Effectively coordinate test operations and equipment maintenance activities with government CTF Asset Managers, from an ID&C perspective.
  • Support development, tracking and reporting of contract and CTF metrics.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff within the organization.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree focusing on Engineering, Science, or Information Systems and a minimum of nine years of applicable experience.
  • Current U. S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and/or operations and maintenance of ID&C systems and processes.
  • Experience in the basics of supervision and workforce management, including work planning and monitoring, cultivation of productive working relationships, and ability to solve staffing problems and facilitate conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated practice of related safety measures and setting a good example for others with respect to safety.
  • Direct knowledge of  ID&C related aspects of  AEDC  test operations and maintenance preferably in Flight or Aeropropulsion Test Facilities. Experience in multiple test facilities is considered a plus. 
  • Experience managing a test, capital improvement, maintenance, training, or overhead project, or at least a portion of a project budget.
  • Master’s degree in a technical or management field
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication and group presentation skills.
