National Aerospace Solutions (NAS), LLC is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment activities at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex, Arnold Air Force Base, in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Job Duties: This position will report to the Safety Health & Environmental Department Manager and will support the department’s objective in providing a robust and responsive electrical safety program for the NAS team. This Electrical Engineer will work with Engineers, skilled craft, and other disciplines, to understand issues related to electrical systems and safety, and work as part of a team, to provide guidance and resolve issues across the complex. Specific job duties may include (this is not an exhaustive list):
Responsible for conducting and/or providing oversight for Arc Flash studies of varying size and complexity.
Collect electrical systems data, as related to arc-flash study input and assessment, across the complex
Conduct electrical system modeling, develop calculations, review reports, and coordinate with personnel in other areas
Develop, implement, and train personnel to site electrical safety policies and procedures
Conduct site electrical safety audits and inspections
Consult on electrical safety issues across the complex ,in accordance with site and industry standards, including but not limited to, OSHA, NEC (NFPA 70), and NFPA 70E
Participate on the Electrical Systems Committee
Complete assignments to adhere to long-term goals set by management
It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Perform other related duties as required.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and 5 to 9 years of progressive and relevant engineering experience or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 3 years of progressive and relevant engineering experience
Relevant experience must include electrical trades related to Arc Flash Analysis
Current U. S. Citizenship is required.
Must have a thorough understanding of Arc Flash Analysis protocols and concepts
Experience in conducting Arc Flash Hazard Analysis using NFPA 70E and IEEE standards
Must have conducted Arc Flash Analyses (from conception to execution)
Must be able to use Arc Flash software to produce analysis reports and conduct report reviews
Possess experience in the most current electrical engineering principles and practices
Experience in Electrical Safety and knowledge of associated safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, ASTM) , working knowledge of the NEC, and demonstrated working experience on or around energized equipment in an industrial setting including proper PPE in order to ensure a safe work environment and personnel safety
Ability to read, interpret, and write/edit documents such as safety rules, audit reports, and procedure manuals
Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, management, and customers
Able and willing to continually learn electrical safety related material to keep up with current practices and requirements
Exhibit excellent communication skills to be used in responding to electrical safety questions and performing program presentations
Demonstrated aptitude for collaboration and teamwork but must be able to act independently with little supervision
