This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.
AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
NAS currently has an exciting career opportunity available for an Electrical Engineering Technical Specialist to join our team at Arnold Air Force base in Tennessee.
Job Duties: The Electrical Engineering Technical Specialist provides technical guidance and oversight through administering and directing the work of designers and drafters. Supports planning and estimates. The technical specialist works with personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work. In addition, this person will coordinate with other disciplines, support planning and estimates, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others.
Typical assignments may include:
Selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs or layouts for electrical scope.
Leads team of designers to prepare layouts, study drawings, detailed design models and construction drawings.
Monitor and track cost and schedule for assigned scope.
Supports development of work plans and schedules for the assigned work including estimate of material quantities, design deliverables and staffing needs to meet the project milestones.
Oversees preparation of assignment material requisitions and bid evaluations.
Assists with plans and schedules and prepare/maintain design procedures, standards to provide quality design documents.
Interface with electrical engineers, support designers, Start-up, and operations during the preparation of electrical designs.
Perform coordination review of specifications and other documents prepared by others. Maintain up-to-date skills in computer applications to design work and ensure that maximum use is made thereof.
Ensures effective communication between electrical designers, electrical engineers, project engineers, electrical engineering supervision, and with administrative personnel within the project.
Consults with equipment suppliers, technical specialists and client representatives as directed to provide and receive technical information.
Review vendor documentation to ensure compliance with codes, standards and project requirements.
Perform simple calculations of specific electrical components in accordance with applicable codes and project requirements.
Perform Electrical Engineering tasks having a medium degree of complexity.
Makes decisions independently concerning problems within discipline on the project.
It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Perform other related duties as required.
BS degree in a relevant field and seven (7) years to nine (9) progressive and relevant experience; or any equivalent combination of vocational training, other progressive and relevant education and experience for a total of eleven (11) to thirteen (13) years.
Current US Citizenship required
Preferred Bechtel and or DoD, DoE project experience
Experience with standard Bechtel Software Application Programs in associated discipline (i.e., SETROUTE)
Knowledge and application of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE Standards
Experience with 3D modeling.
Skill in reading, interpreting and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
Skill in directing the technical work of less experienced designers and/or drafters.
Current or prior government security clearance
Basic skill in oral and written communication.
